Ford F-650 and F-750 truck laying off 130 hourly workers

the pain isn’t being felt just by the big trucks – F-Series sales fell ever-so-slightly by 0.2 percent while Transit sales fell 20 percent.
The manufacturer posted a 20.2 percent decline in heavy-duty truck sales last month versus the same period last year.
Blue Oval truck sales overall were down 4.2 percent.
Overall, heavy-duty sales are down over 10 percent for the year.
The layoffs come amid a significant downturn in sales for Ford’s heavy-duty lineup.

Sales of the Ford F-650 and F-750 Super Duty models are slumping, likely due to the fact that new models are arriving for 2018, Ford says.
The Ohio Assembly Plant, which has built a total of 4,856 Class-6 and Class-7 trucks so far this year, employs roughly 1,600 hourly workers, and is also where the E-Series cutaway van is produced.
“Some fleets are waiting to place their order until the new model year.”The arrival of the second-generation Ford F-650 and F-750 models for 2016 marked the start of their production at Ford’s Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake.
Previously, they’d been built at a plant in the state of Nuevo León in Mexico.

This could possibly be thanks to the updates Ford is making to the 2018 F-650 and F-750 trucks.
According to Detroit News, the layoffs are part of a larger pattern of summer slowdowns across the automotive industry.
