Michigan Central Station was built in 1913 & designed with the same firms which did NY’s Grand Central Station.
REPORT: Ford in talks to purchase, redevelop Michigan Central Station in Corktown
DETROIT (WXYZ) – Ford isn’t commenting on reports which the Inc. is in talks to purchase & rehab the Michigan Central Station train depot in Detroit’s Corktown ambit.
Crain’s is reporting which Ford is in talks to purchase the dilapidated train station from the Moroun family.
When Crain’s tells the exact case of negotiations is unknown, the magazine tells sources are saying them a bargain can come as recently as following 30 days.
The Michigan Central Depot has been largely abandoned ever ever the 1980s.
But, the Moroun family has recently been rehabbing portions of the facility & it was used as the centerpiece of the Detroit Homecoming event in September 2017.

As mentioned in final year, we heard which Ford was moving over 200 employees into Corktown.
gossip started flying earlier today & This time Crain’s has announced which Ford Motor Inc. is Already in talks to purchase the long-vacant Michigan Central Station.
In an email statement, a spokesperson from Ford tells,At this time, Ford is focused on locating our autonomous car & EV business & strategy teams, including Team Edison, to the Factory in Detroit’s historic Corktown neighborhood.
Crain’s too reports which the owners of Michigan Central Station—Crown Enterprises & the Morouns—are talking to several entities interested in buying & redeveloping the huge building.
It would take a lot of money & vision to reopen the old train station.
