One person dead after train crashes into car in Oakland Park.

A collision between an Amtrak train and a car has left one man dead in Oakland Park.
The exit ramp from southbound I-95 to westbound Oakland Park Boulevard was also closed, officials said.
There was only one person in the car and Oakland Park Fire Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene.
The crash closed West Oakland Park Boulevard in both directions between Powerline Road and Northwest 21st Avenue.
The crash occurred about 1:10 Friday afternoon at the railroad crossing on Oakland Park Boulevard just west of Interstate 95, according to Tri-Rail spokeswoman Bonnie Arnold.

A family escaped their car after it became stuck on train tracks and was hit by a train in Long Branch Thursday.The driver went around road barriers on Brighton Avenue, and onto a section of road closed to traffic by ongoing construction.The driver later said they thought they were driving into a parking lot, but instead got stuck on the New Jersey Transit train tracks.The family was able to get out and call police, who alerted the train’s engineer.The train slowed down, but ended up striking the front of the car.

Driver dead in crash

OAKLAND PARK, FLA. (WSVN) – A portion of Oakland Park Boulevard was temporarily closed near Interstate 95 after an Amtrak train hit a car, killing the driver, according to Oakland Park Fire Rescue.
The male driver, the lone occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene by Oakland Park Fire Rescue.
The crash resulted in the closure of West Oakland Park Boulevard in both directions, between Powerline Road and Northwest 21st Avenue.
According to fire rescue officials, the northbound Amtrak train was en-route to New York City when it crashed with the car at the railroad crossing at Oakland Park Blvd., west of I-95, at around 1:10 p.m.Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies from the Oakland Park district, along with Oakland Park Fire Rescue, then responded to the scene.
According to BSO, the vehicle was traveling east on West Oakland Park Boulevard when it was hit on the passenger-side rear fender, and that collision forced the vehicle to hit a metal pole.
