Peeks at the 2019 or 2020 Ford Ranger “Raptor”

a rival to the Chevrolet Colorado, the Ranger will almost certainly offer an off-road variant, possibly taking the Raptor name.
We’ve had a few peeks at the 2019 or 2020 Ford Ranger “Raptor” before, but today’s spyshots prove how serious Ford is at hiding details of the ZR2 fighter.

In addition to the defensive engineer driving the truck (he allegedly challenged our ace photographer to a fight), this Ranger Raptor mule also sports what must be the first application of suspension camouflage we’ve ever seen.
The whole kit rides higher than other Ranger prototypes we’ve seen, and there’s a wider track and flared fenders on offer as well.
Hopefully the small Raptor will also offer one of Ford’s EcoBoost engines, perhaps the 325hp, 400–lb-ft 2.7L V-6.

In the mix, remarkably, is a pickup truck: the Raptor.
Ford Performance also sells stonkingly outfitted Mustangs, so why take a pass on kitting out what is the company’s bestselling vehicle, the F-150 pickup?
It’s a pickup for adrenaline junkies, and I’ve always been curious about it, so when Ford said I could borrow a $62,500 test vehicle, I said, “Heck yeah!”
The F-150 is Ford’s bestselling vehicle — and the bestselling vehicle in the US for four decades.
The Raptor is what happens when the F-150 goes high performance.
Ford Ranger

as informed in New spy shots indicate the automaker is also focused on tackling the performance diesel market currently occupied by the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2.
Photographers recently spotted the Ford Ranger Raptor, the future truck’s off-road variant, undergoing testing with a diesel engine on board.
It is currently offered in the Ford Transit commercial van in North America, as well as the existing Ford Ranger in other markets.
The Ranger Raptor will have other tricks up its sleeve.
The Ranger Raptor will contend with the Colorado ZR2 and Toyota Tacoma TRD when it becomes available, possibly as a 2020 model.
