In a report by the Associated Press, a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was being shown off at a car auction in Billerica, Massachusetts on Wednesday tragically accelerated into a crowd of people. “I heard a screeching of tires, and, I believe, a Jeep Cherokee went flying by me…[the driver] avoided the cars, and went on to hit the people who were standing between the cars,” said Tuttle. Speaking to WCVB-TV, auction employee Woody Tuttle said the building consisted of eight lanes for vehicles on auction line up while hundreds of spectators and potential buyers stood between the lanes when the Cherokee accelerated suddenly. According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, a LynnWay Auto Auction employee in his 70s was driving the Jeep down a lane on display to potential buyers when it “suddenly accelerated and struck several people.” Three people were killed and nine more were injured, two of whom had injuries classified as life-threatening, according to the report.

The Grand Cherokee range is diverse enough to cater to a range of drivers and their individual needs. Beyond that, the Grand Cherokee has only just been updated for 2017 – it’s unlikely to be superseded or heavily discounted any time soon. The Grand Cherokee range holds a five-star ANCAP rating. Not if you’re considering the big V8, as Jeep is extremely likely to launch the new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk in Australia.
Watch This Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk Put Its Supercharged V-8 To Work
A while back Jeep released video of a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk, but without performance specifications, the video didn’t pack too much of a punch. The standard power distribution for the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is 40/60 (front/rear) but can be adjusted to 30/70 for Sport mode and 50/50 for Winter mode As you can see (and hear) below, the Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk is ready to conquer the track with a widened stance, improved intakes, and an aggressive aero kit. According to Jeep, the Trackhawk is able to sprint through the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds. Each time the Trackhawk accelerates past the film car, you can hear the 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 whine and roar as the driver stomps on the gas.
